PT Krakatau Chandra Energi (KCE), a subsidiary of Chandra Asri Group engaged in Electricity Supply, Electrical Services, and New Renewable Energy (EBT), built Rooftop Solar Power Plant (PLTS) installation systems in five educational institutions, namely Islamic boarding schools and madrasas around Cilegon City. This initiative is in line with the realization of Energy Independent Schools through the provision of an independent source of electricity in a building.
The rooftop PLTS in these five Islamic boarding schools has a total capacity of 8,325 kWp with an On Grid Zero Export system, as the principle of 'energy independence' which aims to supply electrical energy independently through the presence of alternative energy sources, in this case PLTS. PLTS installations for educational institutions have been built in five institutions, namely Yayasan Al-Bustaniyah (Curug Sekolah, Kel. Bagendung), Pondok Pesantren Syubbanul Muslimin (Kel. Delingseng), Pondok Pesantren Nurul Hikmah (Tegal Bunder, Kel. Purwakarta), Yayasan MTS Al-Hidayah (Jl. Sunan Kudus, Kubang Welut), and Yayasan MTS Al Khairiyah (Kel. Rawa Arum).
Director of Operations and Commercial of PT Krakatau Chandra Energi, Ari Azhar, explained, “The installation of rooftop solar power plants in educational environments is part of KCE's CSR program entitled ‘Langit Biru’ to support the success of the energy transition in Indonesia and optimize the use of EBT in educational environments. As an EBT provider company in Indonesia, KCE strives to create an educational place that utilizes EBT among the younger generation, especially solar energy through Rooftop PLTS. In addition, KCE is also actively involved in the realization of environmental care initiatives such as the habit of sorting waste, and fostering Waste Banks in educational environments to encourage economic independence and a sustainable environment,” Ari explained.
The Chairman of the Al Bustaniyah Islamic Education Foundation, Ustadz Ade Fahrudin Syam'un, M.Pd, expressed his appreciation for KCE's steps as a company that encourages real action to have an impact on the environment, “The utilization of rooftop solar power plants, and support for the sustainability of the Waste Bank at Al Bustaniyah by KCE is expected to be a practice that inspires other industries to collaborate with educational institutions to jointly care more about protecting the environment,” said Ustadz Ade.
Through this assistance, KCE hopes to encourage wider awareness of the importance of EBT utilization, whose education starts from the educational environment and community. KCE is committed to supporting green initiatives that are aligned with the national agenda in reducing carbon emissions and encouraging more institutions to participate in energy independence efforts.
