Tuesday 11:53 / Feb 04, 2025

PT Krakatau Chandra Energi (KCE), one of Chandra Asri Group's companies in the field of providing reliable and competitive electricity, electricity services and new renewable energy (EBT) in Indonesia, is taking strategic steps to support the energy transition by strengthening the Electric Vehicle (EV) ecosystem. This is in line with KCE's efforts to contribute to the Indonesian government's ambition to achieve the Net Zero Emission (NZE) target.

Together with PT Mobil Anak Bangsa (MAB), KCE cooperates in the development of e-mobility and electric vehicle ecosystem, including but not limited to the purchase and distribution of MAB's electric vehicles in Cilegon and Serang City. Cilegon is one of the targets because it is the largest industrial city in Indonesia.

The development of e-mobility and the electric vehicle ecosystem refers to efforts to support the adoption of electric vehicles in carrying out industrial activities. In terms of emissions, electric vehicles produce no emissions during operation and help reduce the carbon footprint of industrial areas. Electric buses also offer more efficient energy use than fossil fuels and maintenance costs of electric buses tend to be lower as they have fewer moving parts that require regular maintenance.

Erri Dewi Riani, President Director of KCE, said that the opportunity to work together to build an electric vehicle ecosystem in Indonesia is a big step for KCE to drive the clean and sustainable energy transition.

“We are excited to collaborate with MAB in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles, especially for industrial mobility. This is in line with the importance of building sustainable and environmentally friendly businesses and operations,” explained Erri.

As is known, one of KCE's business pillars is the provision of EBT for retail and industrial markets. The development of EBT which is KCE's competence is Engineering, Procurement and Construction (EPC) of solar panels, Energy Management System to the construction of Public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations (SPKLU) through its subsidiary, PT Krakatau Sarana Energi (KSE). Meanwhile, MAB has been known as a producer of locally made electric buses and trucks produced with TKDN of more than 80% for the past two years.
